About Liz
Liz Lear is an award-winning storyteller with 25 years of communications experience in the nonprofit, healthcare and design engineering arenas. Liz's resume includes senior communications posts at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Clinic and Penton Media.
Liz earned her bachelor’s degree in magazine journalism from Ohio University’s E. W. Scripps School of Journalism, along with a minor in art. She launched her communications career in magazine journalism, with bylines in Machine Design, Motion System Design, Ohio Magazine and Southeast Ohio, and progressed to senior roles in healthcare marketing and development communications.
While overseeing campaign communications for Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University's School of Medicine, she grew impassioned about writing for a cause.
Along this professional path, Liz honed the art of connecting readers with worthy nonprofit missions through the lens of an individual’s personal story. Her creative content approaches help build emotional connections with readers, supplemented by a factual case for support and natural call to action.
Liz is adept at interviewing and writing, as well as editing and directing creative projects and teams. She is experienced interacting with physicians, corporate leaders, patients and major gift donors, and engaging designers, photographers, writers, IT professionals and multimedia producers.
In her free time, Liz enjoys spending time with family on the golf course or hiking trail and teaching yoga.
